...He did say something about this place though. How our souls already belonged to the cultists, so he didn't care about taking them. Not very comforting to hear, but it made him offer the deal in the first place.

Our souls already belonged to the cultists? How's that possible when we're still alive and the sacrificial ritual hasn't started yet? I guess maybe he wouldn't really know, huh. [she says, mostly because she isn't sure they would've had time to ask and to save you from having to answer if there's no answer.]

Then again it could just be because we're stuck here. But if it worked in the end maybe we can't worry about that too much either.
