[well, honestly the first thing aerith is going to be doing is realizing that she and cloud wound up with the same housing but their ninja did not. so today on this fine (?) monday, she's wandering through town to look at everyone else's name plaques to try and find where yuffie might have wound up.

maybe lavi's stepping out of the haunted house, or maybe he's returning, but he will see that aerith is lingering in front of the door.]

Well...at least that's not so bad.

[he's returning!!! that way he can peer over her shoulder like their first meet cute, hi aerith]

Are ya keeping tabs on me?

[well since he's returning he might get to see a lil peek of what might looks like the word loss from under her bracelets. she does not seem fussed though and instead she smiles.]

Maybe. [NO.] Or maybe you have something I'm a little interested in. [she could explain right away but no this is funnier for her.]

[NOT LOSS.... that's (dgm voice) loss...

but woah?!? he perks up at that]

Keeping me in suspense, huh... Can I make a guess?

[he knows he'll be WRONG but listen]

[no actually he doesn't i'm sorry lavi. also hm. her eyes dart a little toward his scarf when she sees the flash of words, and she thinks about his profile again. she is starting to think that perhaps something happened here that's impacted how he portrays himself to other people for his own protection, perhaps.

but it's not like she's going to point that out, so rather she pretends to think as if she's making a decision if that's true or not.]

I am really curious about you...[okay well no that is true, but it's not like she's 100% immediately telling everyone about her own past either. instead, she reaches for the plaque and taps on yuffie's name.] Looks like you're now responsible for something important to me.

[Lavi follows the pointing, ah, and then he smiles.]

Cloud mentioned that you're all friends.

[did he perhaps know before he started joking around... but he does like how Aerith played along.]

Oh? I'm impressed. Usually he doesn't like talking to strangers. [leave cloud alone, aerith.] Soooo...did he have anything else to say about us?

[this is really going to be the lavi and aerith experience of one of them starting stupid bullshit and the other playing along isn't it.]

I asked him if you guys knew each other before or if you made friends with him here, and he said that you're good, but not that good.

[he says it in the playful 'i'm tattling on cloud' voice]

Harsh! Bet I could make friends with him all over again in a day. [please tattle on cloud more often.] Yuffie just joined us not that long ago, but Cloud and I met before that.

How'd you meet? Are you guys mercenaries too?

[even though aerith and yuffie's vibes are so different from cloud's..... but the world needs all kinds of mercenaries right???]

Oh, he's my bodyguard! [he is not. well. actually he still does a lot of the same things and even though it's really that they're working together for the same goal instead, this is a funnier answer.] We met Yuffie while we were traveling with some of our other friends and she decided to come along.

[the way Lavi won't question this because Cloud does seem like the silent bodyguard type, except in this specific situation...]

You don't seem like the type who needs a bodyguard. But Yuffie does sound like someone who'd tag along.

We were trying to leave Costa de Sol and she convinced us that we needed her while we kept going. [yuffie did not give them a choice. she is no longer an optional party member.] We met her a few towns back but she cornered us when we were there. But it worked out pretty okay.

[that's her friend. her annoying, loud friend. but backing up, there's a little grin.]

So...what type do I seem like to you? [if not the type to need a bodyguard? like lavi's right, she doesn't anymore, but cloud still does a lot for her and protects her anyway.]

[he grins as he visualizes this situation in his head, thinking of just how adamant Yuffie must have been, considering how full of will he's seen her be.

and then aerith asks, and his grin gets a little bigger,]

I think you're the type who likes protecting others. You're fine with having someone watch your back -- [SO NOT LIKE. STUNTED LIKE A TSUNDErE] as long as they know that you're gonna watch theirs too.

[this is not a wrong assessment is the thing and she seems a little happy that lavi thinks this about her. but at the same time it's a little wrong for a different reason.]

Yup. That's what our whole group does. We look out for each other in a fight, and I do everything I can to protect them. My magic's meant to help them fight and keep them safe. [but?] But I did hire Cloud as my bodyguard when we first met.

[lavi like wait MAGIC????]

What kind of situation were you in when you met him?

[yeah! magic! just normal things!]

Let's just say we had someone to take care of when they came to the church. But Cloud scared him off pretty fast! [sometimes...you watch your "bodyguard" beat up an annoying clown of a man until he runs away.]

Have either of them told you about materia yet?

[thinking of how you guys were talking about materia in chat. he shakes his head]

Is that the term for it?

[yeah she's been telling people on her own SIPP. anyway!]

Sort of! It's more like a crystallized form of the energy force that's used for spells. Materia's made from mako, and mako's from the planet. It's...really powerful. Some materia's made in labs, but there's a lot that's also naturally formed. We use them for spells for things like fire or ice or other elements. [she thinks about what else needs to be covered here.]

A lot of the materia I keep in my staff is for healing, too. It helps so I can keep everyone safe with barriers or give them a second wind if they get hurt.

[oh, at that he looks intrigued,]

...Healing, huh? We've got magic in our world too, but nothing that can do that.

[the way the innocence can do so much except heal. lavi has no idea that there are people out here who can heal while using their life force,]

We've gotta fix all our wounds with medicine and bed rest.

[the fuck do you mean innocence can't heal.]

That's right. [she is but a squishy mage.] It's our materia, but we have other things that help, too. Potions and stuff. But even our magic can be depleted if the materia runs out of energy, and there're still some things we treat by hand with medicine, bandages and rest. It helps a lot, but it isn't needed to solve everything.
