[Lavi tucks his hand under his chin, then -- as if reciting something he's learned over and over again -- ]
'The Bookman observes and records the hidden history of our world. Without bias, without emotions -- they use their neutrality to write down and protect the truth.`
[then he cracks a quick grin,]
Bookman's my Gramps, and I'm his apprentice. I haven't learned a tenth of what he knows yet, and I started when I was a kid.
Bias is inevitable, however, for as long as you're human, you'll imprint your thoughts into things. How do you actually maintain your role of true neutrality?
[stop she deserves to especially with lavi who likes to Flee. but at that he nods, his previous cheery and sheepish expression turning serious.]
It is.
But that's why we have the Bookman, we stand on the sidelines to acknowledge both sides, and all the angles in between. [...] Even if future generations will acknowledge only theirs as the truth -- if there's just one copy that says the opposite, then history doesn't only belong to them.
[ She says, even as she's about to acquiesce to his request. ]
It's a bit of a heroic epic -- slightly different from what I usually write. It's about a one-eyed ghoul who becomes the leader who unites all of ghoulkind, leading a rebellion against a corrupt human society, liberating them from their oppression.

[perking up, the way this is such a different experience compared to kanda... #shook,]
...Some of them more than others. But if I had to pick, then I'd call myself Bookman Junior.

I think I rather like the sound of that. History tends to be very biased, all of the time.
Is it a hereditary role?
no subject
...It's not passed down. Only certain people can become Bookman -- you need a good memory for one, and other stuff.
[when will hoshino tell us about the other stuff....]
Gramps found me and took me in.

that icon?????
lavi: :) i no longer like talking to the pretty lady about bookman secrets.....
his face grows sheepish, because the best way to handle a difficult subject is NOT to swerve obviously, but to address it! just how lavi would!]
I'd tell you, but I'm still just an apprentice. All the previous Bookman could do it though -- so maybe I would have eventually learned too.
IT'S REALLY CUTE I love it.
I guess that's why you're still a junior. You've got a lot to learn.
It must be hard. After all, history is inevitably written by the victors.
[ She might have some level of stake in this, really. Is why she's really pressing on Lavi's Problem Button. ]
i love eto....
It is.

holds lavi...
I'm a writer, as well. So you could say I might be a little invested in the idea of it all.

...Can I ask what's it about? King Bileygr.
[books....!!]

I guess being a "bookman" is actually very literal as well?

Gramps would probably say that I should control my emotions more. [or like, just get rid of them. but he shrugs]
But I've always liked books, 'specially written by people who I think are interesting.
[that's you, eto]

Flattery will get you nowhere.

But also, it makes sense a little more now, why Eto was interested in hearing about Bookman. A novel about a war, when war is all of history.]
...That just makes me wanna read it even more, you know.
Why one-eyed? You wanted to tie it in with the title?
no subject
There's been talk of a one-eyed ghoul running about, recently. One black eye with red iris...
The other... a pretty, translucent green.
[ She's looking at him meaningfully. ]
Slaughtering men, left and right, when they're together all alone... leaving a streak of red in their wake, like a royal cape.

-- So ghouls are real in your world? [...] I'm probably thinking of different ghouls.
What are they like?
no subject
And they eat human flesh.
[ Just fucking drive-by drops that on Lavi. ]
no subject
Maybe it is the same kind..........

Also, you're no fun. I was trying to give you a scare.
[ Went right over his head, this one. ]
