...I won't lie, I was suspicious that Cosmos might try something anyway. If he did, I didn't want it to be in there in the dark. I was keeping all my options open at the time.
We saw it outside the bar. It was already in Cosmos's form by then, so I didn't realize.
Cosmos thought it was someone from home. That's why we went into the bar with it. I wanted to keep an eye on them, and I wasn't sure if it was some kinda trick... I fucked up there -- because it drank the siren potion, and that made us want to follow it back to its tank.
[he thinks about his earlier whack a mole with the octopi and how little that's actually calmed him down, and the next part will make it worse, he thinks. he takes a moment to breathe and get himself back under control,]
We started fighting at the aquarium. That's where I confused Cosmos for the octopus and killed him. I panicked and tried to resuscitate him, but I'd forgotten to do CPR at that point. The octopus had its hands around his neck, so I cut off one of its arms, and then I chased it down to the onsen, where I killed it.

He shows up a little while later. Walks in, hands him a takeout bag with a McNaldo's meal. There's a soft drink too (but no happy meal toy). Enjoy.]

Thanks. Feels kinda weird... I did this for Bucky and Four when it was their turn.

Hope that doesn't mean I'll be next.
[Cursed by McNaldo's...]

Well, it's not like we know how it works. If Four and Bucky always meant to kill, then fine. But Cosmos and I didn't want to kill each other.

[Well, that honestly sounds more believable than the alternative.]
... How did it come to that? If you're not already sick of explaining yourself.

We both woke up in the theater. I don't know why it was us. We tried waking you guys up, and then left the theater.
...We thought there was a chance that the rules had changed, and that maybe more people than just us were awake.
[which they were right about except it was an octopus]

So you kept looking until you found someone? Or something.

So when did that octopus come in?
