Um, there was a trap that shot a bunch of arrows... A lizard librarian that ate Ron and me... A demon lady named Ka-ren who tried to peel me and Mathis... And Raphael! The big boss of the place.
[Lavi blinks in surprise at the memory void again, and then he's falling into this memory now, just like he did with the other one.
It's an intricate memory -- straightforward at first glance, Izutsumi in the dungeon, trying to find a way through and trying to help her comrades -- but he sees the rest too, her thoughts and her past, everything that he'd only be privy to if he was seeing it through her eyes. once it ends, he looks at her, still holding her hand.]
[ it's always that memory. one that express her inner thoughts, memories and words she would never openly say out loud. no, not when she can keep quiet and shoo everything else off. but here it's out there in the open. there's no hiding it, or denying it, not when the memory is there to be seen so clearly.
her ears are pinned back into her hair, tail curling around her own leg as she looks away. not daring to look at him, even as her hand twitches in their hold. ]
Been that way for as long as I remember. Don't have any memories of my life before it.
[ the squeeze of her hand makes her tense up, as if she forgot about that small little contact. she isn't sure how to feel about it. it feels... grounding, but at the same time... she's never felt that way in her entire life.
alone, on the other hand... she always has been alone. and that she can get used to being for the rest of her life if she had to, she can keep to because it's all she's ever known. she ignores the very small ache at that thought. ]
Didn't have much of a choice, did I?
[ no family for as long as she could remember, just a caged life being sold from one owner to the next. it isn't as if she ever really had somebody. ]

That's a good name for it. [IT FELT LIKE A BOSS DUNGEON LEVEL] Oh -- and we saw people from the town over there.
...And I saw someone from home. I knew it wasn't them, but... I don't like how that place knew that about me.

he can see why she'd take that risk. he squeezes her hand, gently]
No wonder you felt like you were alone.
[and he can see that she was, in those memories.]
I always thought you were real independent... But you've been like that from the start, huh?
