You're telling me! Last year, he snuck onto a boat and sailed all the way to another country just to come find me. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw him there.
[WHERE DOES TEUCER GET IT FROM surely it's not from Childe's relentless spoiling.......]
Also he looks INCREDIBLY PAINED. Maybe he should start wearing a tracker... but no, then Teucer would follow him around even more...]
He didn't. A friend of mine [Traveler would not call him a friend but they're not here to argue about it] ran across him by chance, and brought him to me.
[UH....... YEAH..... SCOLDING....... HE DEFINITELY DID THAT.........]
Ahaha... enough... [LISTEN,] I wrote to my parents as soon as he was on the ship home, so I'm sure they'll keep an eye on him for a while. If nothing else, my little sister won't let him out of her sight.
Yeah. It's pretty loud when we're all home. [Which doesn't happen often and hasn't for a while, but. He's not going to get into that.] I travel a lot, so I don't see them as much as I'd like. I try to send them souvenirs when I can.
[He wonders if the package he'd put together will get sent out or not, now that he's supposedly dead. Hm. Let's not think about that either.] If we actually can get out of here, I think I'll skip bringing them anything from this place, though.
[iT'S FINE. WE'RE SWERVIN. Childe is not used to having trauma (narrator voice: this is not true???) so he's just compartmentalizing.]
Mm, maybe. I'll have to change a few details, but that's easy. [It's what he does all day every day with KIDS... if there were actually kids here his attitude would be very different but teenagers are kind of /waggles hand. You gotta be the right kind of teenager to trigger big brother mode...] What about you? Any siblings?
["the right kind of teenager" u mean a cutie....... why do we only have (checks list) feral kids. lavi shakes his head,]
Just me and my Gramps. [thinks about how lavi's origin story hasn't been revealed for 12 years] Left home when I was six to become his apprentice and never looked back. Home's wherever we're traveling to next.
[hoshino will betray me eventually but that's for later]
[HSDKJGHKSG HELP at least he's already succeeding... damn though I can't believe the Tsaritsa is holding Lavi's backstory hostage.
He just shrugs, though.]
It depends. Some were raised Fatui, but others join later on. Older recruits can still climb the ranks if they're ambitious, but that's pretty rare--many of them don't work as soldiers, though they're all trained regardless.
[Not that Childe spent that long as a grunt himself, but, y'know]
[As if that's explanation for anything??? It kind of is though actually. It's fine
Also, HAHA... WHAT A QUESTION.]
It's a little complicated, but... we're currently in a very long one. [SOMETIMES... WAR GOES ON FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS...] We do serve Her Majesty in other ways, though. It just depends on what she needs.
[GENSHIN YOUR WAR lavi continues looking incredibly interested to hear about a guy's home world and the war he might be in, he can't help it... it's the bookman in him,]
I'm fighting in a war back home too, but we only fight on the front lines. There ain't enough of us to send on other types of missions.

[WHERE DOES TEUCER GET IT FROM surely it's not from Childe's relentless spoiling.......]

Okay, that definitely beats anything I've done. [he's laughing,] I followed Gramps to a couple of war zones before, but he was always around.
[says lavi, unaware that it's basically war all the time in genshin.]
Maybe your brother's got a tracker on you? How'd he know where to find ya?

Terrifying and lucky. How hard did you scold him?
[thinking of his gramps punching him in the head]

lavi squints at childe for a second but he doesn't know enough about him to assume extremely doting older brother]
You've got a big family, huh? [wonder what that's like...] Must make trips back home real fun.
[childe go visit your family]

lavi laughs, though it's a few shades of wry]
S'not exactly kid-friendly, huh? [those fcking UNIFORMS!!! DANGEROUS!!!] At least you'll have some fun stories to tell 'em.
no subject
Mm, maybe. I'll have to change a few details, but that's easy. AND HELP WHERE IS LAVI'S BACKSTORY it's gonna get released the same time we find out Childe's older sibling's names]
That doesn't sound bad. [Lavi literally mentioned war zones like ten minutes ago] I started serving Her Majesty when I was 14.
[So not nearly as little, but still kind of a kid.]
no subject
STOP YEAH IT WILL TSARITA WILL SHOW UP BEFORE HIS BACKSTORY, also it's fine the war zones were the fun part (?)]
Do kids usually enter the service at that age?
[he knows realistically that there are no Limits in War, but still... fourteen... baby]
no subject
He just shrugs, though.]

[Not that Childe spent that long as a grunt himself, but, y'know]
no subject
So it only took you ten years?
[THAT'S PRETTY QUICK? to go from soldier to childe's very long and fancy title]
What do the Fatui do? Have you been in a lot of wars?
no subject
[As if that's explanation for anything??? It kind of is though actually. It's fine

[that's probably why they're LOSING]
no subject
I'd be surprised if there were. We're a bit of a special case.
no subject
That just makes me more curious....!!
no subject
Childe just laughs, waving a hand.]
I'll tell you more about it some other time, hm?
