[he gives her a teasing look in response to her smile and steps closer, leaning in as he reaches for the book, until the distance between them is the same as the stack of books she's carrying,
then he plucks the book from its spot and eases back, holding it up for her perusal.]
[ she turns around a bit more as he takes the book, shoulder pointedly brushing him in the chest as the stack in her arms shifts a bit. she will set it on the ground and then look up at the book as he holds it for her. tiltling her head. hm. ]

[ reaching up to take the book anyways, mine now. and then taking his wrist to direct it a little higher higher... until she can drag him closer. like you can't get closer than sandwiched against the shelf in the library bodily. ]
[he laughs, he can't help it -- the sound brief but genuine,]
Maybe we should have gotten a ladder.
[his fingertips brush the binding, and it might be red and it might not be, but he's happy to play along, so he wiggles it out just enough so it can drop --
and he grabs it with his other hand, quick as a flash -- inches before it can drop on Marina's head,]
